Password Reset Procedure

Overview

This document outlines the standard procedure for resetting passwords in the bizdealroom.com system. This procedure applies to all user account types.

Self-Service Password Reset

For Customers/Users:

  1. Navigate to the bizdealroom.com login page
  2. Click on the "Forgot Password?" link below the login fields
  3. Enter your registered email address in the field provided
  4. Click the "Reset Password" button
  5. Check your email inbox for a message from support@bizdealroom.com
    • If you don't see the email within 5 minutes, check your spam/junk folder
    • The email link expires after 24 hours for security purposes
  6. Click the secure link in the email
  7. On the password reset page:
    • Enter your new password (must be at least 8 characters long and include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character)
    • Confirm your new password by typing it again
    • Click the "Save New Password" button
  8. You will receive a confirmation message that your password has been reset successfully
  9. Return to the login page and sign in with your new password

Assisted Password Reset (Support Team Procedure)

For Help Desk Staff Assisting Users:

  1. Verify the user's identity using at least two of the following methods:

    • Registered email address
    • Full name as it appears on the account
    • Business name associated with the account
    • ABN/ACN (for Australian business accounts)
    • Date of account creation (if available)
  2. After confirming identity, choose one of these reset methods:

    Option A: Manual Reset Link

    • Access the admin dashboard
    • Search for the user's account using their email address
    • Select the "Send Password Reset" option from the user management menu
    • Confirm with the user that they have received the reset email
    • Guide them through the steps as outlined in the Self-Service procedure above

    Option B: Temporary Password Reset

    • Access the admin dashboard
    • Search for the user's account using their email address
    • Select "Set Temporary Password" from the user management menu
    • Generate a secure temporary password (system-generated recommended)
    • Provide the temporary password to the user via phone or separate email
    • Inform the user that they will be prompted to create a new password immediately upon login
    • Remind the user about password requirements (as noted above)
  3. Document the password reset request in the customer's account notes:

    • Date and time of request
    • Verification method used
    • Reset method chosen
    • Support team member's name

Security Notes

  • Never send passwords via email or unencrypted communications
  • Never reuse previous passwords for security reasons
  • Passwords should be changed every 90 days as per our security policy
  • Users should be encouraged to enable two-factor authentication for additional security
  • All password reset requests should be logged for audit purposes
